Inspiration

Terios is based upon a well-known piece of concept art for Shadow the Hedgehog from Sonic Adventure 2's development.¹

• A yakuza, who's name means 'reflection' in Japanese (this is false). This monicker supposedly came from his habit of mimmicking the expressions his victims. He further claims became wanted internationally for such heinous crimes that G.U.N extradited him and stripped him of all rights, leading to him being experimented on aboard the ARK. Whether G.U.N was yet involved in the ARK's projects at the time Terios claims to have been experimented upon is unknown, and G.U.N insiders such as Rouge the Bat are unaware of Terios or his claims, and unavailable for comment. Terios has also claimed he was the only subject tough enough to survive having foreign DNA grafted onto his body; however, there is reason to believe that Gerald Robotnik would have purposely picked a hedgehog for his research into creating the ultimate lifeform.^a
• Terios has alternately claimed that his name is in fact Terrence Ogilvie Samson, a United Federation soldier in a contemperanious war at the time of the ARK's projects, who was a test subject in research into super soldiers. This does appear to line up with a war that the United Federation was involved in at the time, but Terios' claims of experimentation on soldiers is unsubstantiated.
• A previous instance of Sonic, or,
  A clone of a previous instance. The former should be impossible because of the biological nature of chao reincarnation, and the latter can neither be confirmed nor denied, since the time intervals between Sonic's instances is unknown. Terios does appear have heightened Chao DNA present in him.
Terios has aditionally claimed that he was the neural template for Shadow, and that Shadow's memories aboard the ARK are in fact Terios'. Gerald Robotnik's own account contradicts this, but it should be noted that Gerald is not a reliable narrator either.
